At present, the Friends encourage gifted young artists in the pursuit of excellence by sponsoring sixteen events in McDonald’s Sydney Eisteddfod program.
As membership increases, so do the prizes. Most people are quick to see the advantage of joining when they realise their membership fee will be offset by value of five complimentary tickets to general events.
Individual membership costs $55 (adult) or $40 (pensioner/student) for one year, or two-year memberships at a discounted rate ($100; $75).
By belonging to the Friends, former entrants can maintain contact with Sydney Eisteddfod and we welcome our newest member Jack Bertinshaw. As winner of the second McDonald’s Ballet Scholarship in 2008, Jack is now continuing his studies in Switzerland and, according to all reports, loving every moment.
With tickets to orchestral, opera and ballet performances among the prizes, the Friends raffles proved popular and these, coupled with membership fees, raised a total of just under $10,000 that will be put to good use in forthcoming months.
