Volunteering in the arts

For almost eight decades, Sydney Eisteddfod has been encouraging talented young performing artists in the pursuit of excellence.  Every year, a wealth of new talent rises from its stages and some, like the five 2011 contemporary singing winners who are now gracing television screens across the nation as members of Network Ten’s Young Talent Time team, find instant fame. Former Sydney Eisteddfod winners dominate both The Australian Ballet and Opera Australia productions. They also play with leading orchestras, feature on the musical stage, appear in films and hold key positions in every area of artistic endeavour.

Last year, Sydney Eisteddfod received the City of Sydney Business Award for Cultural and Creative Services in recognition of its contribution to the city’s artistic life, a reward that not only recognised the work of its staff, but also the efforts of a dedicated volunteer army that is without doubt the lifeblood of the organisation.

Without these volunteers, Sydney Eisteddfod could not exist; so if you enjoy helping young people, appreciate the arts and have time to spare between the months of June and September, why not consider joining Sydney Eisteddfod’s happy team. There are positions available for marshals, doorkeepers, ticket sellers, session secretaries and managers. The events take place in various venues across Sydney and the hours are flexible.    For further information, call 02-9261-8366
