The following guidelines and reminders are specific to this Division.Please also read the Information for Entrants & Rules and General Conditions.

1. A chorister may only perform ONCE in the SAME event.
2. A different item is required for each event unless repeat performances are specifically allowed. If it is specifically indicated that an item may be repeated, it may be repeated ONLY ONCE (except when progressing to finals).
3. Time limits are strictly monitored and entrants exceeding the time limit will be eligible for 'comments only' - not for any placing.
4. Registration and performance rules are strictly enforced (see Nos 15 & 16 in the Rules & General Conditions of Entry).
5. Unless an event is ‘Any Age’, entrants must conform to event age limits.
6. Entrants perform at their own risk. Entrants agree they are of good health and fitness and physically able to participate in an event. No liability will be accepted for any injury sustained whilst carrying out that performance.
7. In case of insufficient entries in any event they may be combined with similar events.
8. Age limits do not apply to conductors or accompanists provided they do not sing with the choir.
9. Non-singing conductors may conduct any number of choirs.
10. Singers must be bonafide members of their group or school.
11. Cross elevation of advanced juniors is allowed.
12. Own choice items may be published or unpublished unless otherwise stated. Where two own choice items are to be presented, we would encourage ONE to be by an Australian composer or arranger.
13. A copy of complete scores, with bars numbered must be provided for the adjudicator. Photocopies will not be returned. Selections to be compiled in order of performance properly presented in a folder and labelled with Event & Entrant numbers for identification.
14. The conductor is responsible for correct selection of music within any set guidelines. Selection and suitability of music for the age group will be taken into consideration.
15. Choirs (conductor or a chorister) should announce the titles of the pieces before the commencement of their performance.
16. No recorded backing or amplification allowed and no choral soloists to use microphone in any event, except for the Show and Community Choir events.
17. Accompaniment is piano only unless the score provides for another instrument, except for the Show Choir events.
18. The display of choir banners or other identification is not allowed.
19. The PIANO will be placed on the OP side and its position MUST NOT be altered.
20. The stick height of the PIANO can be changed as required.
21. A separate entry form is required for EACH DIFFERENT GROUP NAME.

YOUTH CHOIRS (19 & Under) & PRIMARY SCHOOL CHOIRS:

* TWO OR MORE GROUPS IN THE SAME EVENT:Schools can enter more than one group in the same event provided each group has different members. Schools which enter more than one group in the same eventmust supply a list of names in each group WHEN THEY REGISTER on the day of the performance, otherwise only the first group programmed may be eligible for a prize.

* Schools, with students of the wrong age in age specified events, will be disqualified and barred from participation in 2013.

* A group may represent one school or two schools. A group comprising students from three or more schools is not allowed. However other combinations may be allowed, especially for regional and certain interstate schools, at the discretion of Sydney Eisteddfod. Different combinations need to send in written applications to Sydney Eisteddfod for special consideration and the decision of the Eisteddfod will be final.

CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS: Choirs MUSTpresent one item by an Australian composer OR arranger in their championship final’s program. This item may also be performed during the preliminary rounds. The same choristers MUST perform in the championships as qualified from the preliminary event rounds. New choristers cannot be introduced to substitute for missing choristers.

WARM-UP: Depending on venue for these events, we may or may not provide separate warm-up area beforehand for the choirs. From first moving on the stage, a maximum of 6 minutes is allowed for warm-up on stage if no separate warm-up room available, or a maximum of 3 minutes is allowed if warm-up room has been provided. These times include taking up position, warm-up & setting up and tuning of any instruments, after which performance time commences.

Note:ALL choirs present in the venue must be seated in the auditorium at the commencement of their event or division and will be called to the stage from their seats (except Finals).

100S: The John Lamble Foundation Australasian OPEN CHORAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Total Prize Value exceeds $11,500

Tentative Date: June 17, The Concourse, Chatswood

First, Second & Third placegetters in Events 101-105 will automatically be eligible to compete for this Championship. Choirs who qualify more than once will be requested to put their ‘best style/category' choir forward for this Championship. Test: Finalists to present a program of a contrasting nature. Total performance time must not exceed 15 minutes. This includes time taken between items. The program MUST include at least one item, which qualified the choir for this Championship and one item MUST BE by an Australian composer OR arranger. This item may also be performed during the preliminary rounds.

Winner: $6,000.

2nd: $2,000.

3rd: $1,000.

Finalists: $500 each. Sponsored by The John Lamble Foundation.

Minimum 16 Voices. Open to all choral styles, excluding barbershop (see events 102 & 104).  

Test: A selection of at least two contrasting items. Total Performance Time of up to 10 minutes.

2nd: $200.

3rd: Shield.

102: Show Choir (Any Age)

Tentative Date: June 16, The Concourse, Chatswood

Minimum 16 Voices. Open to all choral styles, including barbershop. 4 microphones & facilities for backing CD will be supplied (see also events 51 & 52). Presentation may include costumes, movement and props. Any combination of voices. Accompanied or unaccompanied. No restriction has been placed on the number or type of instruments used. Choir material may be folk, contemporary, music theatre, gospel, barbershop or light classical.

Test: A selection of at least two contrasting items. Total Performance Time of up to 10 minutes.

1st: $800.

2nd: $400.

3rd: $100.

Minimum 16 Voices.Any combination of voices.

Test: A selection of at least two contrasting sacred items. Total Performance Time of up to 10 minutes.

Minimum 16 Voices. Open to all choirs including barbershop, but excluding school and tertiary choirs. 4 microphones will be supplied for soloists.

Test: A selection of at least two contrasting items. Total Performance Time of up to 10 minutes.

1st: $500.
